Special Schools and Small Schools Consulting

Houston has a strong community of excellent schools serving students of all ages who need a special education setting rather than a pull-out program. SCHOOL SOLUTIONS places students at these schools with confidence, having seen students flourish socially, emotionally and academically. We also work with consultants who refer students who are ready to return to a Houston from residential programs. SCHOOL SOLUTIONS knows the small differences among these schools and which one can be just right for each student’s needs.

Special Schools serve students with a variety of physical and intellectual challenges, students on the autism spectrum, or students who need the emotional support of a unique environment. Some of our Special Needs Schools offer dual programs for college-bound students as well as vocational students.

Small Schools or “Micro Schools”are becoming very popular across the U.S. Houston has some fine small schools serving primarily middle and high school students. The gymnast, the fencer or dancer who travels may seek a small school with a flexible schedule. Students needing accommodations or modifications of curriculum are well served by some of our small schools. Students who have missed a lot of school and need to recover credits might enroll in a small school. Many students who need a faster or slower pace choose a small school with one-on-one or self-paced instruction. An advantage for many small schools is that homework is either brief or not given at all. Students moving to Houston during the school term will find small schools can offer a smooth academic transition and a community where they can make friends.

When a student may thrive in a Special Needs or Small School, SCHOOL SOLUTIONS designs fees and services to support the family through the admission process. A Guidance Plan with a few additional services is often just right for these families.
